There are so many wonderful things available to us here in the wine country. I am constantly finding new wines, restaurants and food items worth writing about and I hope that you will enjoy my discoveries.

This blog is not just about weddings, but about what makes this part of the world such a draw; great food, excellent wine and wonderful people. I hope you enjoy reading these posts and can find yourself here, enjoying the same amazing things we do.

Dance Fever

I had a beautiful wedding this past weekend at Trentadue Winery in Geyserville.  I have to say that my most favorite elements were the musical groups we had entertaining everyone.

I had come across a fabulous French duo, Laura & Anton, who serenaded dinner guests throughout dinner – the perfect music for a festive and relaxing evening as the sun set.

Then, we hired my most favorite dance band, Notorious.  I absolutely love them!  They are a dream to work with and they are amazing entertainers – the dance floor was absolutely packed for two and a half hours straight!

Music is something that can really set the tone for your event, whether it is live musicians, a dj or even an ipod – think it through as it becomes the “stamp” of your party.

Father's Day

We celebrated Father’s Day with our good friends Debbie and Leo and their son Max.  Leo is the winemaker for http://www.stuhlmullervineyards.com/ so of course the food and wine was simply fabulous.  Grilled rib eyes, spring onions (looked like the cover of the current Bon Appetit) and wilted farmer’s market spinach.  I made a pavlova (basically a meringue) and filled it with fresh strawberries and lightly whipped cream.  Super simple but absolutely delicious.

My favorite part of the afternoon was watching Max and Grace run through the sprinkler over and over and watching the boys tend to the BBQ while sampling wine…a perfect day.

The Perfect Setting

I had a fabulous wedding last night at one of my favorite locations, Calistoga Ranch (www.calistogaranch.com).  The setting is absolutely breathtaking in its natural beauty and the staff is one of the best in the area.  I think one of my favorite things about this location is how simple it all is but how it is done to perfection.  It is luxurious without being pretentious.  All of the staff are incredibly well trained but do their jobs with a warm and welcoming nature.

This is yet another example of how important choosing the right venue is…almost as important as choosing the right planner of course.
